Content and structure elements

Scope and content

The scrapbook contains clippings from Barron’s Weekly that record business dealings and personal episodes from the life of William C. Durant. The clippings come from articles written from January to February 1926.

System of arrangement

Past practices described the contents of this collection individually. Each item received an object ID number and was treated as a distinct artifact. Records have been reunited, but their original order may have been lost.

Conditions of access and use elements

Conditions governing access

No restrictions. Contact the Collections Department and the Archivist to arrange use for research at collections@sloanlongway.org or (810) 237-3421.

Physical access

The clippings were glued to sheets of paper, which was punched in three places along their left sides and bound together with brass rings. There are paper front and back covers. The clippings have black typeface stamped on them.

The general condition of the scrapbook is fair. All clippings remained fixed to their sheets. No sheet shows signs of yellowing. The same is evident with the clippings despite having been glued to the sheets. No signs of rust were found on the brass pins. The covers have many tears along their edges. Corners of some sheets are curling.
