Portée et contenu
The records largely reflect the constitution, by-laws, and regulations of Genesee County Freemasons. Others are the 1873 Flint ordinances and an issue of “The Michigan Teacher.”
Little was researched about them due to mold damage. Contents will be retained due to uniqueness of materials for digitization in the future.
Mode de classement
Past practices described the contents of this collection individually. Each item received an object ID number and was treated as a distinct artifact. Records have been reunited, but their original order may have been lost.
Zone des conditions d'accès et d'utilisation
Conditions d'accès
Restricted access due to fragility and mold. Permission to access will only be granted by the Archivist.
Accès physique
The contents are paper booklets that are housed in Mylar sleeves. Each is housed inside acid-free folders, which reside in a single Hollinger box.
The condition of the collection is poor due to mold damage on some document and incredible fragility of the paper. Paper is at risk of flaking away if handled. Exercise care when handling the documents and avoid handling if possible. Wear gloves due to hazards presented by mold. The fragility is so extensive and severe that booklets will be retained in their Mylar sleeves for added protection. Two booklets were found with mold to such an extent that they were discarded for safety of staff and the remainder of the collection.
Access to the collection is restricted to the Archivist and those granted permission.
