Portée et contenu
Series V represents Francis H. Rankin and Caroline Rankin prominently. This series could be considered largely biographical in nature as the records reflect their personal lives, interactions with organizations in and around Flint, and how they managed Wolverine Printing Company. Francis Rankin was involved in multiple organizations in Flint and Genesee County from the 1890s to the 1920s. These include Genesee County Agricultural Society and the Board of Control of Michigan School of the Deaf among many others. Caroline Rankin assumed control of Wolverine Printing on the death of Francis Rankin. Some records reflect her education.
Other records collected include papers from the Garland Street Literary Club and records documenting the establishing of the first unified school district in Flint: the Union School District of Flint.

Paper composes the majority of media. The series is housed inside acid-free folders inside seven legal-length full Hollinger boxes. Much handwriting is either in pen or in pencil and the majority of that in cursive.
The general condition of the series is fair. Many documents show slight signs of water damage and dirt. Yellowing is common throughout. Most retain a good deal of flexibility, but should still be handled with care.
