Content and structure elements
Scope and content
Correspondence composes the majority of the collection. It details lamps discussions concerning lamps from antiquity to the early modern period. Half of the correspondence details lamps that may or may not have been considered by Sloan Panorama of Transportation for exhibition and lamps that were given consideration for donation and exhibition. The remainder of the collection is an issue of The Reminder, a newsletter published by Genesee County Historical and Museum Society.
System of arrangement
Past practices described the contents of this collection individually. Each item received an object ID number and was treated as a distinct artifact. Records have been reunited, but their original order may have been lost.
Conditions of access and use elements
Conditions governing access
No restrictions. Contact the Collections Department to arrange use for research.
Physical access
Paper composes the collection. Most letters were typed. Only one was handwritten and in printing and pencil. The collection is housed inside a single acid-free folder.
The general condition of the collection is fair. Most letters have yellowed to varying degrees. Many have frayed along their edges and have small tears. Some paper is frail and is at risk of flaking if handled without care.
